Stephen Etnier was born in York, Pennsylvania on September 11, 1903. His art merged into a lifelong affair with large sailboats, yachts, airplanes and expensive automobiles. He explored the Atlantic and Pacific coasts as well as some of the islands in the Caribbean. His travels and interests are prominent in his paintings, many of which were done on-site.
