Introduction and Comments By Edward Gans. First Re-publication of an Essay in the Jenaische Allgemeine Literatur-Zeitung, 1810 by J. W. Goethe and Heinrich Meyer ("Weimarer Kunstfreunde") Eight plates of original medals owned by Goethe, and eight plates of medals discussed by Goethe and photographed from the collection of the British Museum, London. Hardback book, no dust jacket, 45 pages, approximately 8 3/4 inches wide by 11 1/4 inches high, with 16 black and white plates. The covers are near fine with light soiling and shelfwear; the binding is tight; the contents have a musty odor but no mold or mildew; overall the contents are clean and in near fine condition.
